This piece is part of my series surrounding the female form in nature. I wanted to create work that remind us of our interconnectedness with nature. I also wanted to remind the viewer that women are the earth and we in our shape are the beauty of the planet.
‘Grounded’ was made to resemble systems in nature that remain wise throughout their lifetime: trees, rocks, crystals, etc. This piece is a reminder of the lifetime of peace and balance that is held in nature by such elements. A reminder of the patience and wisdom that comes with the rings of the tree. Elements of nature that can be reflected through women and the female form. The wisdom that is passed down from generation to generation of women. The knowledge that women have coming into this world and the knowledge that we collect while living through this world, reflected on our bodies like rings within a redwood.
