I created ‘The Chase’ in drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese tattoo style, tattoo culture is something I have become increasingly fond of. There is so much beauty to be discovered in what tattoo culture has to offer. I wanted to expand on what I loved by creating a painting in motion. ‘The Chase’ depicts prey versus predator in a gruesome battle; the tiger claws for a fresh meal while the deer evades its capture. I wanted this piece to have a more circular motion so that the viewer might imagine it continuing off the page in a series of sporadic circles.
